The project represents one of our most elaborate engagements with a Hilton-brand opening in Central China, and the first time Zhobai has furnished a property designed by PLD — the Hong Kong practice of Liu Bo, whose Song Dynasty-inspired new Chinese aesthetic gave this project its singular design character.

The Song Dynasty (宋式) light-luxury concept that defines the DoubleTree Zhengzhou East is not a decorative choice but a philosophical one. Song-period Chinese aesthetics — restraint, natural material honesty, ink-wash tonal range, and the subordination of ornament to proportion — translate with remarkable precision into the idiom of contemporary luxury hospitality. Lobby and Arrival Spaces

With 630 guestrooms — 290 of which feature private balcony mineral spring soaking pools — an 11,000-square-metre conference complex, four dining venues, and a showpiece cave hot spring, this is a property of genuine scale and complexity. As the exclusive FF&E partner commissioned to furnish every guest-facing space, Zhobai Hotel Furniture brought to this project not only manufacturing capability but the design intelligence required to translate an ambitious brief into a coherent, brand-compliant physical environment.

Situated at No. 13 Xinghu Avenue, Duanzhou District, Zhaoqing — immediately adjacent to the east gate of the Seven Star Crags (Qixingyan) National 5A Scenic Area — the hotel’s address is inseparable from its identity. The karst limestone peaks, lake vistas, and garden landscapes of one of South China’s most celebrated natural parks form a literal backdrop to the property’s guest experience. At 342 rooms and suites across a low-rise lakeside complex, the hotel draws on the resort’s extraordinary landscape — lake views from over 70% of guestrooms, 2,000 m² of lakeside outdoor lawn and terrace event space, and a children’s resort programme anchored by an indoor-outdoor dual fantasy playground — to deliver a complete leisure and family holiday destination that happens also to carry one of the world’s most trusted business hotel brands. Zhobai’s FF&E scope covered every guest-facing space in the property, from the individually specified guestrooms to the &More shared-work lobby and the lakeside terrace dining furniture.

Design Vision: New Sheraton Meets Sichuan

The “New Era” Sheraton design language abandons the traditional hotel lobby — a formal reception hall separating arriving guests from the rest of the building — in favour of an open, activity-rich community space that Sheraton calls the “Social Hub.” At Mianyang Xianhai, this concept was translated through the lens of Sichuan’s extraordinary craft and natural heritage: bamboo-weave ceiling panels reference the hand-woven basketry traditions of Sichuan’s artisan communities; pale camphor wood case goods echo the light, warm timber of a Sichuan teahouse; and the lobby’s signature botanical installations bring the forest landscape of Lake Xianhai’s shore inside the building. Zhobai’s design team worked in close collaboration with Marriott’s regional FF&E standards team and the project’s interior architects to develop a complete furniture specification that honours both the global “New Era” brief and the specific cultural intelligence of a property rooted in Sichuan.

The Social Hub Lobby

The Sheraton “Social Hub” lobby at Mianyang Xianhai is designed around four distinct zones, each furnished by Zhobai as a coherent programme while maintaining visual continuity across the full open-plan space. The primary lounge zone — anchored by a deep modular sofa in a warm ivory performance linen with bamboo-print scatter cushions — faces the lobby’s full-height glazing and the lake view beyond, positioning the landscape as the room’s centrepiece rather than its backdrop. A dedicated co-working long-table zone, furnished with Zhobai’s custom communal desk in pale ash with integrated power and data channels and a series of individual task chairs in a natural mesh back, serves the hotel’s business guests without the formality of a traditional business centre. A quiet acoustic zone — three private telephone-booth structures in pale timber with an upholstered internal bench — provides for confidential calls without requiring a separate room. The height-adjustable work desk — a Sheraton “New Era” brand standard — is fabricated by Zhobai in a pale stone composite surface with an electric motor sit-stand mechanism, paired with an ergonomic task chair in a natural mesh back and padded arm rests. Lake View Suites & Executive Programme (86–240 m²)

The suite programme ranges from 86 m² Executive Lake View Suites with 270-degree lake panoramas to the 240 m² Premium Resort Suite with an oversized observation terrace and a freestanding bathtub positioned at the picture window for a direct lake view. Zhobai furnished all suite living zones with a bespoke sofa in a warm jade performance fabric with hand-embroidered cushion panels in a Sichuan floral motif, a round coffee table in hand-shaped travertine with a pale gold base, and a console table in pale camphor wood with a delicate bamboo-lattice carved door front. The suite programme’s observation terraces each received a two-seat teak conversation set with cushions in a botanical-print outdoor fabric — an outdoor living zone that extends the suite’s usable area to the lake’s edge.

Dining Furniture

The hotel’s four food-and-beverage venues each require a distinct furniture character that serves both the programming of the space and the wider resort narrative. The hotel’s 1,200 m² of indoor meeting and event space — anchored by an 800 m² pillar-free grand ballroom capable of hosting 700 guests in round-table banquet format or 1,000 in theatre configuration — is complemented by 2,000 m² of outdoor lakeside lawn for the garden weddings, team-building events and al fresco banquets that the Xianhai setting makes uniquely spectacular. Zhobai furnished the grand ballroom with a complete Sheraton-specification banquet package: 72-inch round tables in dark walnut veneer, ballroom chairs in a champagne-gold fabric with a pale timber frame, and a portable staging system in lacquered pale ash. The five syndicate meeting rooms received Zhobai’s modular conference table system in pale ash veneer with integrated cable management, executive chairs in a navy blue mesh-back performance fabric, and perimeter credenzas in a matching timber finish. The boardroom configuration received a fixed oval conference table in solid camphor wood with integrated power and data, paired with high-back leather chairs in a warm tan cowhide.

Wellness & Family Facilities

The hotel’s wellness and family amenity programme is a primary driver of its commercial success as northern Sichuan’s leading family resort. The panoramic indoor heated pool — visible from the lake-facing guestroom floors and maintained at a constant 28°C year-round — was furnished by Zhobai with a full poolside package: sun loungers in marine-grade aluminium with UV-stable mesh slings, paired side tables and a family section with lower-profile child-scale loungers in a bright coral fabric. The sky fitness centre, equipped with a full LifeFitness cardio and strength suite and a dedicated yoga studio, received Zhobai’s equipment-surround console in pale camphor wood with stainless steel detailing and frameless floor-height mirror panels in a bamboo-motif border frame.

At 300 metres above Shenzhen Bay, occupying floors 66 to 79 of the Shenzhen Bay Headquarters Super Base tower in Nanshan District, Shangri-La Nanshan, Shenzhen opened in January 2024 as one of the most anticipated hotel launches in China — and one of the most ambitious expressions of Lingnan hospitality culture ever realised at altitude. Designed by CCD (Cheng Chung Design), the world’s leading hospitality interior design practice, the 272-key property was conceived around the poetic concept of “百鸟归巢” — a hundred birds returning to the nest — interpreted as a sky courtyard whose four facades frame four entirely different panoramas: Shenzhen Bay and the South China Sea to the south, the Gulf sunset to the west, World of Intangible Cultural Heritage fireworks to the east, and Overseas Chinese Town Wetland to the north. Zhobai supplied freestanding bathtub surrounds in honed white marble composite, wall-hung vanity consoles in moisture-resistant solid surface material with integrated basins, and full-height LED mirror panels with touch-sensor controls. The wet-dry separation design across all bathrooms uses Zhobai’s custom-profiled shower screen frames in a brushed champagne gold finish that coordinates with the room’s brass hardware throughout.

Suites (70–Presidential)

The hotel’s suite programme ranges from 70 m² lake view suites to the Presidential Suite with panoramic lake terraces. Zhobai furnished the one-bedroom suite living rooms with a custom three-seat sofa in a botanical-print performance velvet, a round marble-top dining table for in-suite entertaining, and a bespoke console table in dark walnut with hand-inlaid brass detailing behind the sofa. Suite entry corridors are treated as curated arrival sequences — Zhobai supplied custom wall-console tables in lacquered cabinetry with ceramic display surfaces and coordinating artwork-lighting shelving — transforming the functional transition from door to living room into a deliberate moment of luxury.

Family & Kids Suite

The hotel’s family-focused rooms include bespoke children’s furniture elements produced by Zhobai: a bunk-bed unit in a rounded, safety-first profile with integrated ladder and guardrail in natural birch, a low play table with stool seating sized for younger children, and a dedicated kids’ storage unit with picture-rail display bars — all manufactured to EN 71 toy safety standards for surface finishes and edge radii, ensuring the family suite delivers genuine peace of mind for parents alongside the playful aesthetic.

Dining Furniture

The hotel’s three food-and-beverage venues each required a distinct furniture character. The Jingxiang Chinese Restaurant — the hotel’s flagship dining venue serving Yulin-style cuisine, Cantonese dim sum and fresh seafood — was furnished with a formal round-table programme: dark lacquered dining tables with lazy-susan inserts in hand-polished brass fittings, high-back dining chairs in deep red silk-weave brocade with carved solid wood frames, and a series of private dining room furniture sets for the large VIP suites that accommodate up to 20 guests. The restaurant’s booth seating along the perimeter uses Zhobai’s custom curved banquette sections upholstered in a contrasting warm gold leather, providing an intimate alternative to the formal round-table arrangement.

The 7th-floor Aili Fang Restaurant and the atrium café dining hall received lighter, more contemporary furniture treatments: pale ash dining tables, rattan-back bistro chairs in a natural linen seat pad, and a custom buffet counter with integrated hot and cold service zones fabricated by Zhobai’s Guangdong workshop. The lakeside café lounge — the property’s informal social hub — was furnished with low lounge chairs in sage green bouclé and hammered copper side tables that catch the lakeside light at sunset.

Banquet & Meeting Spaces

The hotel’s pillar-free 1,000 m² grand ballroom — capable of hosting 500 guests for a gala dinner — is the premier event venue in Yulin and a significant source of the hotel’s corporate revenue. Zhobai furnished the ballroom with 72-inch round banquet tables in dark walnut veneer, ballroom chairs in champagne velvet with gold-lacquered frames, a portable staging system and a head-table furniture set in matching lacquered timber. The pre-function lobby — the first space event guests encounter — received a series of statement console tables, upholstered bench seating and tall decorative planters that create a formal reception atmosphere before the ballroom doors open.

Wellness & Fitness

Zhobai furnished the hotel’s fitness centre with a custom equipment-surround console in dark stained timber and stainless steel housing personal accessory storage, towel stations and mirror panels in a frameless brass surround. The indoor heated pool area received marine-grade aluminium sun loungers with UV-stable mesh slings and folding side tables. The children’s pool and play areas were furnished with Zhobai’s safety-rated children’s poolside range — low-profile loungers in rounded aluminium profiles with brightly coloured cushions — creating a distinct, playful zone within the resort’s overall refined aesthetic.

The Zhobai One-Stop Process

Delivering a complete FF&E programme for a 190-key island hotel — accessible only via a covered bridge, with limited on-site staging area — required a delivery and installation strategy as distinctive as the hotel itself. Zhobai’s project ran across four phases:
1. Design Collaboration & Mock-Up (Months 1–4): Zhobai’s design team worked alongside the hotel’s interior architects from concept stage, producing full FF&E schedules, material sample boards and 3D room visualisations for every category. A complete mock-up guestroom was constructed and approved by the hotel’s ownership team and Fuda Group’s quality panel before mass production commenced.
2. Custom Manufacturing (Months 5–10): All furniture was produced at Zhobai’s Guangdong workshops under ISO 9001-certified quality management. Every piece underwent finish durability testing, fire-retardancy certification per GB 17927, and a humidity chamber soak test appropriate to the hotel’s permanent lakeside environment. Bathroom furniture components were sealed to IP44 moisture-resistance standards throughout.
3. Logistics & Island Delivery (Month 11): All container loads were scheduled to cross the hotel’s access bridge during low-traffic windows, coordinated with the main contractor’s floor-by-floor handover programme to avoid congestion on the island’s limited circulation roads.
4. On-Site Installation & Snagging (Month 12): A Zhobai installation team of 20 technicians completed the full fit-out over eight weeks. A joint pre-opening snagging walkthrough with the hotel’s general manager and Fuda Group’s project team ensured every space met the five-star specification before the hotel’s inaugural opening in November 2020.
Result

Jolie Vue Hotel Yulin opened to immediate commercial and critical success — and in August 2025, it achieved the milestone of becoming Yulin’s first officially certified five-star tourism hotel, a recognition that validated both the property’s physical quality and its operational standards. Guest reviews consistently cite the lake view rooms, the balcony soaking tub experience and the lobby’s arrival atmosphere as the hotel’s standout physical elements. The hotel has maintained a rating above 4.9 on major Chinese travel platforms since opening, regularly appearing in lists of Guangxi’s top resort addresses.
